Wednesday Wandering: Newichawannock Woods

Join us for a Wednesday Wandering at Newichawannock Woods in Berwick this month! Hike from 10am–12pm.

Newichawannock Woods is a 78-acre preserve that abuts the Salmon Falls River. 1.33 miles of trails meander through the hardwood forest and abuts the river. A rare stand of swamp white oak was successfully protected on the preserve.

Conserved in 2017 and donated by Michael and Steve Kaplan, sons of the family that owned and operated Prime Tanning in Berwick. The property has frontage on Rt. 236 and Powerhouse Road, as well as 1680 feet of frontage on the Salmon Falls River. The preserve features rolling terrain, steeper along the river, with varying densities and mixes of hardwoods and softwoods. Terrain: flat. EASY.

The hike is limited to 25 participants. Reservations required.
