Science Saturdays: The Rare Atlantic White Cedar

Join Great Works Regional Land Trust board member, Michael Wright, and dendrologist, Eileen Willard, for an exploration of Beaver Dam Heath, as we seek a stand of Atlantic White Cedar—a majestic tree that is rare to our area. Learn about the basics of tree identification, the unique overlapping qualities of our region, and how conservation right in your own back yard can work to preserve the wildlife and plant-life that we as Mainers hold so dear. But most importantly, experience the beauty of our diverse ecosystem first-hand! We will gather at the Grants Meadow at Beaver Dam Heath parking area and hike from 10am to 1pm.

This hike will depend upon weather and conditions on the heath—read confirmation and update emails carefully to be in the loop about any changes in the weeks and days prior to the hike!

The hike is limited to 15 participants. Reservations required.
