Mushroom ID Walk With North Spore at Old Boston Preserve
Join Louis Giller of North Spore and GWRLT for a mushroom ID walk at Old Boston Preserve in Ogunquit. This mushroom walk is designed to be an introduction to the mycological world of Maine, with a particular focus on edible mushrooms. Areas covered will include basic fungal biology and life cycle and mushroom/myths and truths. We’ll head into the forest and scan for mushrooms, discussing our finds as we go. The species we are likely to find vary depending on season and location. By the end of the walk, participants will walk away with growing confidence in several choice species and inspiration to learn more.
Louis Giller has spent about a decade studying, growing, foraging and most importantly eating mushrooms. After discovering mycology at the University of Denver and working several jobs around the country, Louis found himself farming mushrooms at North Spore. For the last 8 years, Louis has had many positions within the company, all in service to the broader mission of making the world of mycology available to all. What started off as just a mushroom farm has grown into broad mushroom supplies and education platform, which Louis is more than happy to tell you all about!
Limited to 20 participants. Fee: $30. Reservations required. EmaiI: info@gwrlt.org or call 207-646-3604. Or fill out the form below.
