Volunteers Nancy and Joe Geneseo

Nancy & Joe Geneseo give a lot of hours to GWRLT. They work on bulk mailings, help to organize and solicit items and advertising for both of our auctions, and have always given a hand during land trust events. Nancy and Joe even helped us move into our offices last year! Joe has taken  the lion’s share of the work of mowing the yards at Beach Plum Farm each year from spring through the fall.

Nancy and Joe have been coming to Maine for most of their married lives. “Every vacation, we’d come to Maine” said Joe, often Ogunquit. Six years ago they realized a dream when they bought a house on a lake in Sanford. From those weekends at their lake house in Maine, they decided this was the place to retire. Joe was a supervisor with the Highway Dept. in Natick, Mass. and Nancy worked for General Motors for most of her career. The last few years in Massachusetts, Nancy worked several part-time jobs and waited for Joe to make the leap into retirement. They searched for a home that was not too far from the lake house in Sanford, and three years ago they bought a house in Wells and moved here permanently. They are both avid beach walkers and love to hike, as well as boating (non-motorized), and snowshoeing, skating and cross-country skiing. Nancy is not a “snow-bird” and loves to be out in the Maine winters.

Exceptional folks like these do so much good as they weave themselves into the fabric of their towns.
